Connecting rural communities via buses across Norfolk
Alchera partnered with Norfolk County Council as part of the Rural Transport Accelerator programme, run by the Connected Places Catapult and funded by the Department for Transport, to transform how rural mobility challenges are understood and addressed. Together, we developed a rural connectivity model that reveals gaps in bus coverage and empowers more strategic, community-focused decision-making.
At Alchera, we enable local authorities to unlock the full value of their transport data. Using advanced AI and data science, we bring mobility datasets together, deliver powerful insights, and give decision-makers the clarity they need to plan with confidence.
Our innovative rural connectivity model maps travel patterns in rural areas and compares them with existing public bus services. This makes connectivity gaps visible, helping transport teams explore where they could enhance accessibility, optimise services, and increase the uptake of sustainable travel options.
The solution is ready to support councils nationwide with the data-driven intelligence needed to improve rural mobility, strengthen local economies, and drive progress toward ambitious sustainable transport and net-zero targets.
